Transport Strategy Manager

The Company:

The Position:

Reporting to the General Manager of national transport and based in Melbourne’s CBD, you will be responsible for reviewing, developing and implementing a strategic plan to manage the compliance associated with a variety of transport modes nationally. You will be persuading State and National management teams to comply and potentially change behaviour throughout all areas of the transport business, ensuring all communication is clear, consistent, and concise. This stand alone role has the support of the senior management team and is seen as a key, on going focus for the organisation.

The Person:

 

You will have hands on experience managing a large compliance and audit program within a complex organisation. With a superior level of stakeholder engagement and management skills; a comprehensive understanding of matrix organisations and a thorough knowledge and understanding of transport regulations nationally you will want to be held accountable for these exciting outcomes. Amongst many additional specific skills, you will demonstrate:

• A clear understanding of IR and WHS/OHS as it relates to the transport sector in Australia

• A demonstrable understanding of Chain of Responsibility and fatigue management regulations within the industry

• Very strong organisational and interpersonal communication competencies

Responsibilities include:

Permanent Role 

Our client is based in the Great Lakes Area and specialises in Hydraulics and Engineering.

In the postion of Distribution Manager you will be reporting directly to the Divisional Manager and you would be responsible for setting up and maintaining one of the largest distribution centres in northern NSW.

In the position we have available, the role would cover and include

Supervision and communication at all levels including customers, suppliers, management and staff in a time critical manner

WHS / OHS responsibilities are paramount as is the ability to maintain safety protocols and documentation

Creation of protocols and and procedures for distribution & logistics

Direction of staff

Implement and maintain budgets

Monitor quality, quanity and costs in relation to efficiency & inventory

The successful candidate must have:

Leadership skills that lead by example

Safety focus at all times and understanding of current WHS guidelines

Boilermaking or Fitting knowledge would be an advanatge but not necessary

Minimum 5 years experience in a Warehouse and Distibution role

Knowledge of Manual handling systems

Computer literacy

Understanding of profit and loss statements
